Looking for info about Del Webb Charleston. I like the idea of an over 55 community with no screaming kids, where the lawn is mowed and I can enjoy the pool and other amenities!! I think I might like the camraderie of being in a planned development, but not sure if there is too much "togetherness" among the residents? I really value my privacy and would probably not participate in the many planned group activities, but you never know ?!? Opinions, please !!!!!
--Do both residents have to be 55? My husband will be 55 in 2010 but I will not be 55 until 2017.
--Are pets allowed? We already have a cat, but would like to get a big dog too !! German Shepherd big !!!
--Are the lots large or are the houses too close together?
--Are the backyards private and fenced?
Any other "things" the residents of Del Webb would like me to be aware of?

Just responded to another Del Webb thread. Your concern is valid; however, you can be as friendly as you want. There are some people here who keep to themselves and some who are involved in everything. The house are closer than we are use to but only on the sides. Most are the house back up to a lagoon or a berm, so your neighbors in the back are not that close. It would be to your advantage to take a trip here and see for yourself. I can give you a sales person that's great if you want one.

I am seriously considering a move to Del Webb Charleston however I am not yet
ready to retire. I will be in the area in September and expect prices to still be good.
Is there a market for renting in this development? I would probably go with the
Fox Run model as I liked the layout of it. I am familiar with Del Webbs and love the concept.
My wife and I just need to get a feel for Charleston/Summerville to see if we think
we would enjoy living here. I appreciate any input from people who live there already.

Can anyone tell us if they spray for mosquitoes on a regular basis. I remember in Hilton Nead the "no-see-ums" were terrible in the evening. We are a little concerned since there is so much water around the development

Not to many places spray on a regular basis......

Charleston County has a Mosquito abatement program but I don't know how affective it is....

From what I have read they allow those below ground electric fences. The dog wears a collar. That is what they have in the subdivision I live in now, it seems to work fine.
