Default C.E. Willams Magnet School & St. Andrews Middle School

Hi,

I am a teacher considering working at C.E. Williams Magnet School (on Butte Street) and St. Andrews (on Wappo Road), both part of Charleston County School District.

Can anyone give me any feedback about working there or your experience with the schools?

Thanks!

This is really funny. Mr. Grim actually offered me a contract with his school teaching math. I was really impressed with his building. However, I have never seen it. I actually turned down his position to sign a contract with Dorchester District 2 schools. Someone on this forum you might want to message is SCBeaches. She is a teacher in CHarleston County and I think she would be very helpful in answering your questions. I did, through many conversations with Mr. Grim, acquire so about CE Williams Middle School so if you have any questions feel free to reply or direct message me.

Thanks so much. Would did you like/not like about C.E. Williams and what made you go with Dorchester 2?

CE Williams offered me the job before DD2. The CE Williams job kinda came out of nowhere in about late May. I had been in contact with a DD2 principal since January. We talk about once a week for about 4 months. He was trying deperately to just get me into the district. Anyways, eventually, they were able to come through and make a position for me. It was getting to the point where I just wanted to take the CE Williams job because I just wanted out of Ohio. My loyalties were with DD2. I would have felt like I betrayed my principal (I am workign for him by the way .

What I like about CE Williams:

They have wonderful collaborations
Should have SmartBoards in each classroom
They use Professional Learning Communities
Grade level teams (share a common group of students) collaborate
They have department teams (ex. all 8th grade math teachers collaborate)
Few disapline issues

I will be quite honest. I felt Mr. Grim and his school out pretty well. I look for very specific things in a school. Even though I didn't get to see his school I was impressed. I think you would be very happy with his school because I know I would have. However, I am very happy where I am. Bottom line...great school!
