We want to take our boat out for the weekend on the water, but would like to enjoy the fireworks on Saturday night while we are out. We normally go to Edisto Island, but I don't believe they are having a fireworks show. We are not familiar with boating in the Charleston area and I am wondering if anyone can advise me on a location that we can put in and cruise around and view the fireworks from either Patriots Point or another location that may be celebrating the evening. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

You can put in at the Wappoo boat landing (under the Wappoo bridge in West Ashley). It's only about a 5 minute boat ride to the harbor. But be warned: you better put in, in plenty of time because it gets crazy busy. It'll be pretty nuts after the show, when everyone is trying to get out all at once.

The best place to watch them from is out by Castle Pinckney

And yes go early, it will be a mad house out there today....

Hence the reason I am at home....

All of the above are correct. Other options are Shem Creek boat landing and Hobcaw. The same warnings apply.

If your boat is big enough -- its the other folks that have to watch out. Just kidding folks....

Enjoy.
