I think labels are silly, limiting and non-productive.

I am living in Charleston because of the old downtown charm and the proximity to the water. I don't care if it is liberal or conservative. I can make my life a good one wherever I choose.

If a conservative government means one where the governor disappears for a week (I don't give a darn what he was doing).....I'm not so sure that is a good thing. Makes me wonder what your choices were in the last election -- must have been some slim pickings.

I guess the people in South Carolina are going to have another one from up THERE to educate. Notice I was really nice and didn't say ignorant person, but I am sorry, the ignorance on this thread has had me laughing all the way through. Do people from the North think we really care about your politics. A true Southerner never discusses religion or politics when they are not on these threads. My husband and I are not even in the same political party and we get along just fine, as long as he puts on a proper set of clothes when we go out.

Ignorance is a relative term.

If that's right, "True Southerners" sound really boring...what's more fun than having a drunken, heated conversation about your most cherished beliefs?

If southerners didn't want to discuss politics why are Neil Boortz, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh so popular in the south.

And if southerners truly didn't care -- when someone asks will I be accepted -- the proper answer would be -- of course, no problem...come on down.

Personally -- it isn't southern or northern thing -- it's an American thing. Americans are polarized with their politics right now and it doesn't matter where you live you will hear derogatory comments about either belief in any city in the USA.

I personally don't want to have a drunken, heated conversation with anyone in that state of mind.

Aw come on -- you gotta have at least one drunken heated conversation. It gets really hard to keep your train of though...and some of the best stuff gets blurted out <G>. Yes I'm kidding and so was the person who typed it the first time.

Here in AL, it is illegal to sell sex toys except for "educational, or scientific research purposes". They actually make you sign a waiver stating that it is for this purpose (Not that I, um, would know anything, uh-hum, about that).
