Yeah -- I don't think we should 'justify' racism. We might try to understand it -- but bad behavior is bad. I do think that Jackson and Sharpton are over the top -- always because they need to be -- I don't think so. I think they are dramatic and are media hounds. I also don't think they reflect all black people. Sure many -- but not all.

I wasn't comparing Jackson to McVeigh's behavior. Yes I purposely chose a controversial white male for my example. You can't hold one person up as an example just because he has the same skin color or hair color, or lives in the same town.

I agee, Jews have been historically oppressed as well as mass murdered, and during the industrial revolution the Irish, Italians, Asians, and all other immigrants were discrimminated against. We even had Japanese concentration camps, and when the US had its own Eugenics program, immigrants were even sterilized to avoid over population. To me what makes their situations different is that blacks currently experience oppression, and until not too long ago were not even awarded the same inherent rights that others enjoy. I have even met people in my lifetime who grew up hearing stories from their grandparents about slavery, and the horrific abuse they encountered. Even though that is in the past, if you have family that went through that then it has to rather upsetting.

How many Jews or Irish Catholics were enslaved in this country?

In this country, none, but Jews were enslaved for a lot longer and under harsher conditions than any black man ever was in the country or any other. And the English enslave the Irish for hundreds of years.

I hear what you are saying, and am not discounting that. I believe that even though that tmight be the case, it doesn't neutralize, or lessen what black people experienced in this country. Racism has deep roots, and equal rights doesn't necessarily equal treatment.

No, but you don't see these other people still crying years later, Jews don't look for special handouts and preferential treatment just because of the ghastly things the Nazis did, or the years the Egyptians enslave their entire populace. There isn't a group like the NAACP or Rainbow Push that comes down hard on companies and extorts money from them so that they don't threaten to accuse them of wrong doing.

Slavery was bad, and if there was a living human being in this country who was enslaved then I could see them having a gripe.

If you are born poor in this country that isn't your fault, if you remain that way it is, and I give our 44th president as a shining example....
