Red face Mount Pleasant or Summerville?

Okay, I am having trouble deciding between the two as my boyfriend and I plan to move down south in the next two months. Can any of you give me feedback on Mount Pleasant verse Summerville and vise versa?

Both areas are quite nice. Much depends upon where the two of you will be working and if purchasing a home the size, type and price of a home if which you might have an interest. Homes in Mt. Pleasant will generally be more expensive than in Summerville as I would rentals.

I wanted to add if you in your 30's or less you might prefer to be in Mount Plesant because there is a lot more to do. Plus down town and the Beach is right here. In Summerville you'd have a 45 minute commute to the beach and down town where the action is.

thank you! it seems like that would be ideal. are there any other towns that we should checkout around there? summerville sounds like it's good in prices, but the 40 minutes might be a bit much when we're feeling lazy any ideas?

Peaches,

I live in Summerville in Weatherstone. I love it. It is right off of the interstate and very convenient to everything. My husband works in Goose Creek and I work in Mount Pleasant. Downtown and the beach are 25 minutes away if you go the speed limit and not drive there during high traffic times. When judging a commute time check out mapquest not opinions including mine if not sure. I am in my thirties and my husband and I are doers. I like where we live. We love to eat at Mustard Seed, the Italian Bistro, and the Red Pepper in Summerville. We like the convenience of the YMCA up the street to work out in and the local parks, shopping (Best Buy, DICKS, Target, Tj Maxx, Marshalls, Movie theatre, etc). Also, I do girls night out once a month and we do not mind driving to Charleston where the night life is awesome. We also drive to the Sullivans Beach for evenings out (great pubs at night), and Mount Pleasant. We have Watepark passes for ourselves and the kids (we like to float down the lazy river and we go to the Dog Park in James Island, and ride bikes. Charleston has numerous beautiful places to live and yes we would have liked to live in Mount P even though it is a little pricey for us and the traffic can be a pain, also West Ashley is nice but same thing. For our family, Summerville was affordable, growing, and convenient. I like our junior Olympic size swimming pool and sidewalks too! Also, the people at the Sangaree schools are very nice and the kids are happy. Good Luck with your move)

thank you so much! that is wonderful help! it looks like we are going to love those areas. i was given the impression that summerville was at least 40 minutes from charleston, it's good to know that it is not that far. i just read this to my boyfriend. we like the cheaper prices as well. although mt pleasant sounds ideal, but it sounds like we will have missed getting in there at a cheap price. this is wonderful info thank you again!! kit! you never know, we could be neighbors!

Summerville is at least 40 minutes from Charleston. And the traffic can make it bad. I'd do a map quest or ask around more. I drive it on a regular occasion for my job and it really is 45 minutes. I promise. It depends on what part but the heart of Summerville exit 199 is 45 minutes.

Depends on where you are at in Summerville as it only takes me 20-25min to downtown Charleston. I also live on the border or Charleston/Summerville so it just does depend. As far as the night life in downtown that all depends on what you are used to. Me and my wife personally think downtowns night night sucks in a major way. On the other hand we are both formally from Miami and not many places can touch South Beaches night life. We are in our 20's btw and Summerville is nice just traffic is starting to grow more then we like but still flows decent enough.
