Charleston by far is the better choice. having moved here from taxachusetts . We have been here for 3 months and We love it here. There are lots of areas next too Charleston that have great schools....Mt.P , Summerville which has Dorchester District 2 schools. The whole state is beautiful. I love Charleston and the whole Low Country.

If you chose Chas over Raleigh you didn't do your homework. It's very nice in Chas though, I live there now

You said it, you love the ocean...once you move to Raleigh you'll never get to go to the beach. Definitely Charleston. You can buy a nice home in Mount Pleasant for $400,000 - it is only 5 minutes from the best beaches and most young professionals live in Mt. Pleasant.
