I was wondering if anyone here had any thoughts about where two young professionals (with a silly Labradoodle) should start looking in terms of renting in Summerville. I commute daily to Orangeburg from Forest Acres, and Summerville is the same distance, but in an awesome town close(r) to Charleston beaches/parks!
Some considerations:
1. The dog is medium sized, about 50lbs, and exceptionally well-trained.
2. I seriously dislike sitting in awful traffic, even more so than the common person, and I heard that some parts of Summerville have a lot of local congestion during commuter hours. I'd like to steer clear of some of those places if possible.
3. We'd like to keep the rental price under $1400/month (well, under $1200, but that's unlikely to happen), since ideally we'd like to save for a house at some point in the near future.
4. My girlfriend prefers green space. I prefer modern space/new shinies. If it came down to it, though, I'd rather see her happy than have my George Jetson decor.
We've been looking at some of the lakeside condos in Ashborough and at the Midlands Terrace Condominiums (albeit "looking" from pictures on the internet), and we're planning to head down there soon and physically check out places to potentially rent. Any suggestions?? Thanks so much!
There are two sets of appartments/condos behind the Walmart and Target in Summerville they are both right next to I-26 with easy access, and about 45 minutes to Orangburg...
If that isn't to your liking there are some other places out towards Jedburg, houses for rent not appartments....
Thanks, Tom! We like houses as well (even more, actually), but it's hard not being from somewhere and trying to gauge what is/isn't a safe place to live. We loved one particular bungalow, and my commuter boss (who is by now likely annoyed by my Summerville questions) drove by it to say the house was nice but near a questionable neighborhood.
Maybe we'll go drive around with a GPS, printed out map and a highlighter/marker for "no-go" zones so that we can know if house rentals are in safe spots.
You should check out craigslist.com. We found our rental house on there and we pay 1400/Mo. 2200 Square ft.ans yes we have a 65 lb. lap dog (or so he thinks)There are plenty of great houses for ent there. Some great deals too.Pretty much all the develpoments are great. Good Luck!
