Has anyone read Pat Conroy's new book and if so, what did you think of it?

No I haven't read it yet, but plan to get it this weekend. I really enjoyed all his other books (well, except for the last one before S.O.B., can't remember the title), so look forward to reading this one. I love it when you can relate to the places and people in a book.

I have it on hold at the library. I'm #105 of about 200. I didn't enjoy My Losing Season so much...which I think was the last one. Hopefully this one will be better since I have really enjoyed all of his other books.

I was going to buy it, but the reviews weren't so good. However, if you like melodramatic soap opera's, I guess it's supposed to be good? Let me know you personal opinion's though, as I was bummed about the reviews.

I went to Barnes and Nobles and started it. I think I'll have to go back and read some more before I decide to buy it. I have SO many books as it is and they aren't fun to have to pack up and move.

Default Finally. It's been a long wait.

I'm about 20% of the way thru it. If you're a Conroy fan, which I am, you won't be disappointed. Of course, I read him for his mastery of the English language as much as for his plots. After reading beach trash all summer, it's a relief to again get lost in his similes... "The teachings of the Roman Catholic Church would cover my soul like a condom for the rest of my life." The story starts differently than much of his work, but life's tragedies are never far away. And nobody does tragedy like Conroy. Don't miss it...

Well-written review, Pawleydude! I still haven't gotten the book, but really want to soon after reading what you wrote about it.

To me Conroy is the ultimate beach trash. I guess we all have our opinions.

Since books are so hard to move, I'd recommend getting a Kendal or Sony Reader...I may get the book soon for that, but I have several books queued up right now to read b4 getting any new ones.
