Looking from the off ramp of the Ravenel Bridge onto 17, we've observed a large black "cat" living under the bridge. Specifically, on the very first pylon supporting the ramp onto the bridge from Wingo Way, there is a platform that the animal has been laying on around 4:45 pm for the last week. As you are coming off of the bridge the area is hidden by high grasses until you're almost parallel to it. I first saw it when I was a passenger engaged in conversation with the driver and saw the cat out the driver's window. Any guesses what kind of "cat" could be out there? He seems to be at least 20-30 pounds.
We attempted to spot the cat from the parking lot of the Tidelands Medical building on Wingo Way but no go. It seems the only way to approach his spot is to walk through the grass along the roadway in front of the Holiday Inn. While I'm curious, I'm also afraid the darn thing will run at me if I approach -- I'm sure it is not a domestic cat!
I didn't see it. I was in the area right before 4:00 so it may have been to early.
