Default North Charleston neighborhood safe?

Hey guys, my wife and I will be visiting Charleston next month and I was just curious if the area around the Springhill Suites was a safe one? The hotel is located at:

7535 North Forest Drive
North Charleston, South Carolina 29420

We've never been to Charleston so we have no idea what the area is like. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

That is near the Northwoods Mall, not the greatest area to stay in, but not a ghetto either....

I personally would stay at the hotels closer to the outlet mall or up towards Summerville....

There is a new Wingate Inn, I think it is just off of Hwy 78 by the Hospital
