I hear you, I just get upset when I hear people chalk their complaints to "them libs", or "them cons". I hear it all the time, and it is as though there is a cookie cutter style mindset that disallows the person to just be a human and have their own thoughts and beliefs.

Right, because anyone who disagrees with President Obama is obviously a racist...
I'll have to make this short because I am meeting Michael Steele at a Klan Rally this morning.
Am I the only person who is bothered by the fact that every other President in history had to defend his policies and actions on ideological grounds but all this current administration has to do is call the opposition racist to get what they want?
And seriously, for 8 years people said Bush stole the 2000 election. For 8 years people made voodoo dolls, called for his assassination, made movies and wrote books about how to assassinate him, accused him of any number of criminal acts and generally turned distaste for the man into disrespect for the office. Now, we can't even disagree with the current President's plans to spend spend spend until we can't spend anymore without being labeled as bigots?
What happened here?

No, that is not what I am saying. It is an extremist mindset that simply will not accept that our president is black, and they stew over conspiracies to discredit him. I heard many a person during the elections say "I ain't voting for no n". And those are the ones arrogant enough to admit it, where there are many who don't. It is like when you are at work and people seem to have no problem with other races until the issue of race comes up, then it is "well, I'm not racist but..." I have never seen this level of overt disrespect for a president in my life. I hear people calling him a communist, a non-American, terrorist, etc. I have seen shirts with the white house and a big watermelon patch in front of it. I have heard people on mainstream radio say "I didn't know the American Presidency was affirmative action". I have seen and heard people say "well, now that there is a black guy in the white house all he is going to care about is black issues", like whites have a long history of institutional oppression or something. Of course there are racist attitudes toward the president, don't you dare insult my intelligence by pretending it doesn't exist just to justify your own angry white guy stance. That doesn't meant that just because you disagree with the president makes you a racist. I am talking about people who are already racist that feed off of what the fringe people tell them to believe.

He is only half black, his mother was Lilly white......
The left is not just going after the extremist, they are calling everyone who disagrees with his policies a racist just because they disagree.....
It seems that we as a nation have forgotten what it means to be a real racist look up Adolf Hitler if you need a refresher....
As for the President being a communist, he said it himself in his book that he gravitated to communist groups and professors in college......

In my early 20's we hung out at gay dance clubs...I wasn't gay. It was just more fun there or more interesting. Now at my age -- I don't hang out in gay dance clubs. I sure do hope we aren't defined by our college experiences.

As for the racism -- I guess it depends what circles you are in. I don't ever here anyone calling Obama critics racist. I do here my conservative gal pals say very racist things -- since Obama has become Presidents blacks have attitudes, etc. That one floored me. I just can never imagine anyone thinking like that.
I've heard liberals and conservatives criticize Obama. Everything from hating all of his policies, to resenting his need to make people like him and his refusal to have a bit of the old Bush in him 'my way or no way.".
Our perception is our truth -- but it isn't always the only truth.

And being racists isn't being aware of differences are talking about them - it's making judgments based on that.
When someone asks where the Italian neighbourhoods are they aren't being racist. If they say the Italian neighbourhoods are the worse -- they are racist.

PV, I don't deny and never have denied that some people are in fact bigoted. I don't deny and never have denied that some people don't like President Obama because of the color of his skin. I don't deny and never have denied that some people choose to ridicule him based on the race of his father.
My problem is that EVERY TIME someone criticizes this President, attacks one of his policies or says or does anything at all that doesn't involve agreeing with him, the race issue is brought up.
So I am racist because I
-didn't think it was a good idea to spend nearly $1trillion dollars on a stimulus bill that has done nothing so far to create jobs, when the primary argument was that the bill would create jobs and if we didn't pass it we would have 10% unemployment by June of this year
-oppose the creation of yet another entitlement program that will be paid for by people who will never need it and will not qualify for it if they do ever need it (health care)
-Thought it was inappropriate for the President to address public school students WITHOUT releasing his speech to the parents first. For the record I have no problem with a President addressing students, I had a problem with the secrecy surrounding the address-especially in an administration so obsessed with transparency
-Think it's a cop out for a President to still be blaming the previous administration for problems after 10 months in office
-Feel that the beer summit was below the office of the President
-Feel that the President should reimburse the government for any costs covered by the government for his date night in New York (there are nice places to take your wife in and around Washington DC)
-Feel the trip to Denmark for the Olympics was wasteful and below the office of the President.
-Find it ridiculous that the President's supporters will defend his actions by saying that "Bush did it too" but will then call Bush "the worst President in US history"
For the first time in history dissent is not patriotic, it's a hate crime.
As for the "angry white guy" comment. PV you don't know me. You don't know anything about me. If you can't think of anything intelligent to say about the issue at least try to avoid the personal attacks. I understand that labeling someone as racist will get people on your side even if you don't have a legitimate argument but really that sort of thing is beneath you and everyone else.

Oh wait a minute.
During the Bush administration you could never disagree with anything their administration said or did. No way no how -- even if you voted for them. Talk about being unpatriotic. Every time anyone questioned the war they were slammed with the un American label. Come on....do you not remember.
And I don't get the racist thing. Maybe it's where you live or who you hang out with. I don't here it in the news or on the radio...but maybe I am listening to different shows. I am not an avid listener of anything. I skip around and get sound bites from the news networks --same on line.
Post links....let us see where every time someone criticizes Obama they get called a racist. I know some people say that -- but that's not 'everybody'.

First off, Italian is not a race. There are only three races: Caucasoid, Negroid and Mongoloid.
How does this make someone a racist? If the Italian neighborhoods are high crime areas or have the worse schools than it would be the truth, and the truth knows no race
