I have been considering a switch and was curious about the speed. I currently have comcast but find them to be all but useless when it comes to getting my service up and running when it isn't working right.
I have wasted 4 hours today only to be told that a tech will come to my house sometime Tuesday evening to "hopefully get it taken care of"
I need to have high speed internet for work and I download movies, music etc on a fairly regular basis so speed is a big issue.
I think you're going to have to stick with Comcast if you're downloading movies.
I have lowest level AT&T dsl out on Seabrook Island. It works for us but then again we're just checking email and watching a few youtubes. Haven't tried hulu or any other major videos.
Here in the ATL I use AT & T -- have run four computers at the same time with no problem -- that includes game playing, downloading, live streaming, etc.
I don't like Comcast but really have only dealt with the tv cable end of it.
A friend of mine in the Jedburg area has ATT DSL with 16MB downspeeds. He is in a new development so the equipment is newer but he has had no problems.
It really depends on your specific area for QOS of the connection, no matter DSL or Cable.
I'm in an older neighborhood near WalMart in Goose Creek
I am RIGHT across the St from you (my business is) and we HAD DSL, well still have until comcast installs next week. You will probably be using the same pipe we do and trust me, ITS SLOW ... Go with Comcast, if thats an option
