A good West Ashley area church?
We are looking at a move to the West Ashley area and were hoping to get some insights as to the church scene there. I did a search on this topic but not much was available. Can anyone recommend a good church that is more blended/contemporary and that is truly friendly and welcoming to visitors/new families? Thanks in advance!

We go to John Wessley United Methodist ( the church that sells the pumpkins) and love it. There are lots of families there and we even have a contemporary service on Sunday evenings. You should visit! email me if you want more detailed information.

There are plenty of churches in West Ashley or surrounding area(remember we are 'The Holy City') that will fill your need, I hate to say this, but you need to figure out which denomination you would like to attend...

There are plenty of denominations that we can choose from. I'm not so concerned with a particular denomination than I am with a church that welcomes new people, is modern and relevant with their worship and messages, and one that generally is active in trying to reach out to the community. Denominations are not going to be recognized in Heaven, anyway!

Grew up Baptist, last area we lived attended Presbyterian - have found a very warm church family that has relevant messages and a good mix of population at the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church (across the road from Earth Fare) in West Ashley.

I go to church on Johns Island, myself, but agree with LRourk that John Wesley Methodist on Savannah Hwy. (just down from Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church) has a very warm and welcoming congregation. I have friends who attend there and have visited at least 10 times. Each time I thoroughly enjoyed and could relate to the sermons and was approached and welcomed by many. If I decide to change my membership, that is where I will go. Denomination does not matter greatly to me either (raised Lutheran, joined an Episcopal church 28 years later, attended a Baptist church for 1 1/2 years, and now going back to the Episcopal church). God is God no matter which church you enter.
