I got a call from Boeing-N Charleston last week. I'm being scheduled for an interview Thurs Mar 18,2009-Quality Acceptance Specialist. I live in the upstate of SC. Any current direct worker have any words of wisdom to take to my interview?
All the normal interview tips - be prepared, be professional, try not to be nervous. But also - based on my own experience plus that of several others, be ready - if your interview goes well, it's entirely possible you'll receive an offer before you leave. You probably won't have an opportunity to discuss salary during the interview, but definitely have a number in mind that you'd like to see so you're prepared if you get an offer.
Do you know which building the job is for - 100 or 300? Is it on-site or at an off-site hiring event?
Don't know which building. The interview takes place at Embassy Suites next to N Charleston airport. Interestingly enough, the person from Boeing Charleston ,who initially, called gave me a wage range to see if I would go to an interview. Thanks for your thoughts.
Hello! I am new to the discussion and have a question: I heard Boeing is hiring throughout South Carolina; can anyone comment on the validity of that rumor? If it is true, does anyone know what types of jobs they would be seeking to fill? Thanks
Keep your eyes peeled for jobs in Charleston, Columbia, Greenville/Spartanburg, and Aiken. A supplier in Columbia is hiring folks left and right, and many of them are related with this Boeing project.
All of a sudden in the last few weeks there are tons on manufacturing jobs opening up, all over the state. Okamoto, Boeing, Komatsu, Caterpillar, etc., etc., etc.
Okamoto is starting CNC set-up folks in Columbia for $21-$24/hr., engineers for $26-$32, etc.
I'm sure $14 hr is only the beginning. These jobs will top out very high eventually, the same as BMW did years ago before they started using temps!! Look at the BIG picture!!
I appreciate you said you work for the company. I have WAY to many questions to address in this thread and would like some unsolicited advice from you. My understanding is that Boeing as a general rule is a "proper" company, meaning NOT like the relaxed atmosphere of Apple and the computer valley. You also mentioned that there were several "tricks" to applying/obtaining empoyment. i would greatly appreciate any/all information regarding these tidbits of information. feel free to contact me at bob12231960@live.com if you would be so kind to talk about this further. Thanks ever so much.
As far as landing an engineering job at Boeing, would I be better off represented by a recruiter?
If so, and recommendations?
We would love to relocate to SC. I'd gladly take an entry-level position.
There are about 5 of them advertised on Boeings website right now, why not just apply?
