Hearing about a bug called sand gnat.

Worse than the mosquito?

Someone posted about how hard it was to watch a game at Bishop England.

How bad is it to be outside? What times of the year are the worse?

I noticed what we call the gnats at the park the past few times I went. They seem to come out around 3:30-4pm and last a few hours. I don't think they are only in Mount Pleasant and DI because when we went to John's island for a picnic last month they were bad there also.
I don't think these are sand gnats though.

Biting midges of the genus Culicoides, incorrectly referred to as sand flies as sand flies belong to a entirely different biological group.

DEET or clothing with a smaller mesh size than 16-mesh will deter. Because they are so small, ceiling or window fans are effective if you're trying to enjoy your evening outside.
