Does SC have a lateral entry program for teachers? I received information about teaching opportunities in the Charleston area but I am not certified. I am looking into the lateral entry in NC for science and or ESL. I wanted to see what the situation was in SC and if it is similar to NC. TIA

I don't know.

But you can try Charleston County, Berkeley County and Dorchester 2 & Dorchester 4 school districts.

I believe without a teaching certificate you are treated as a first year teacher for the first year until you are able to get a cert.

What is the demand for teachers in the Charleston area anyways??? With growing population numbers, I'd guess there is some demand.... but tough to get a position with so many people wanting to live in the area.

Anyone have any insight?

The market isn't that good for teachers right now, most school districts are furlowing to make budget constraints.....

The worse schools are the ones that need teachers the most...
