S2000, there are reasons those laws exist and most real estate agents adhere to them. I'm not saying this one does not, but when I hear an agent making comments about areas that I know are untrue, I have to wonder about their motives.

[quote=Darcysells4u;792026]I do not suggest any North Charleston neighborhoods. There are few that are semi okay... Whitehall, Cedar Grove, Coosaw Creek (gated community)

Coosaw Creek semi okay? Wow, you must be hard to please. Coosaw Creek is a prestigious gated golf course community with homes upwards to a million dollars. Cedar Grove is no dump and I think Whitehall is nice as well. Those are probably some of the nicest neighborhoods on the North Charleston border and are more than just semi okay in my opinion.

Ladson stay away from sangaree.. lots of gangs and crime in what looks like a okay neighborhood until you really look.

Sangaree has been having problems with crime, but I wouldn't call it full of gangs. More like teens with too much time, boredom and lack of parental supervision getting into trouble. They have formed crime watches and have increased patrols there. It is still considered a safe place to live and the long time residents there are doing all they can to keep it that way.

I would stay away from East montague, remount, spruill, the southern end of rivers and dorchester, stall, midland park, some of ashley phosphate, i would stay away from hwy 78, ladson road, sangaree aint that bad as the other person said, there are some wanna be gang members in their, and its summerville not ladson, i'd stay away from old back river rd, red bank road, mostly all of downtown, certain parts of west ashley are run down, but its not that bad,

Real Estate agents are not supposed to give their 'opinion' on schools or 'safety' of areas. And, if they are REALTORS their guidelines are even more strict. They can give you, or direct you to accurate factual data but not give their thoughts/opinions etc about those things.

And, if it would make you unhappy for your agent to 'withhold' that information from you...you should be more unhappy with yourself for not doing your own research. They are just agents, and you are the one making the very important move. If it's important, it's up to you to find out about these things in every way possible.

That's just the way it is, they are only there to help you find a home. Period.

Summerville I suggest Wescott Plantation, White Gables,Legend Oaks, Irongate,Brandywine,Ashborough, Reminise, There are many more that are good. I can't think of them all right now. But if you have a specific neighborhood in mind I can help you. Just pm me.

Ladson stay away from sangaree.. lots of gangs and crime in what looks like a okay neighborhood until you really look.

Goose Creek- stay away from Bevery Hills
Typical snobbish comment from a Mt Pleasant resident . Coosaw Creek,Whitehall and Cedar Grove rival anything that Mt Pleasant as to offer apart from location .
I have worked on a lot of Sub divisions in Mt Pleasant , and basically they are your typical cookie cutter neighborhoods that lack character .A couple of your matured sub division in Mt Pleasant are alright.

Oh I want my agent and whoever to tell me all their opinions.. Not because I'm not capable of finding out info....but the more info I have the more I will know. Why do we all come here and ask opinions. We don't know any of the people answering. It's just good to hear other opinions.

I understand that realtors are not to steer and give opinions, as that can be prejudicial. I want to know from longtime residents what to avoid in Summerville, as I have a wife and young child. I have done some research, but am not familiar with a lot of the specific areas. Birmingham has high crime, but it is concentrated to mostly certain areas. Where I live in Vestavia has virtually no crime to speak of, so stats and data can be misleading. That being said, how about those Summerville neighborhoods?

I live in Summerville. The only thing "bad" about this town is the traffic on Dorchester Rd.
