Other than a few areas of North Charleston, specifically Remount Rd, Spruill Ave, and certain parts of Dorchester Rd and Rivers Ave I can't think of any real "bad" neighborhoods here. But then again my definition of bad may differ from yours.

Stay away from old Sangaree, and near the tracks by the lumber mill.

Also in defence of Whitehall North Charleston , i would say it is very well maintained , convenient for the Airport , 526, and 26 and the residents are very friendly. The Mt Pleasant realtor does not know what she is talking about . Without fail when i have been asked where i live , when i reply Whitehall, there as always been complimentary comments about it.

Ladson stay away from sangaree.. lots of gangs and crime in what looks like a okay neighborhood until you really look.

Goose Creek- stay away from Bevery Hills
Being as impartial as possible and being an outsider I will comment on this.

1. Coosaw is an outstanding area. PERIOD!
2. Wescott may be considered as "summerville" but your smack dab in the heart of North Charleston no matter how you look at it. It to is a nice area. Not like Coosaw persay but nice non the less.
3. GANGS? Are you serious? Yu must have never been to big city USA to experience GANGS. Bored teen who cause mischif are far from gangs.

I dont have problems with anyone sharing opinions because that what all of us are doing, but c'mon lets try and be factual.

I guess when Bill Walsh on the local news calls 10 teenagers who are bored a gang, then we have a "GANG" problem. Charlestonians have no idea what GANG violence is.

In Birmigham we have some true gang members, like the Bloods, East Side Boys, Latin Kings, Disciples, and your odds and ends sub-gangs, but there are also countless teens and young adults who wear the clothing, listen to the music, speak the lingo, and call themselves gang members. They might have a young mother who dates a gang member or is married to one, and they learn to emmulate them from an early age, then bring it to school where their peers follow suit. Sometimes it is the wannabes that you must be the most careful of, because they are the ones who feel they really have something to prove in order to fit in.

You know----- Many of us who live in North Charleston DO NOT APPRECIATE those of you who falsely speak negatively of this area. I am the HOA President of a very nice subdivision in North Charleston, and there are NO crime problems here or in the surrounding areas. This area is very clean and well-maintained. I think that unless you live in the area OR have FIRST-HAND knowledge/ experiences of that area, you SHOULD NOT talk negatively about them!!! Many of the people on here have no clue what they are even talking about...But they think they can give false information anyway...How would you like it if someone did that to you?

You mean like Mt Pleasant is full of people mortgaged up to the eyeballs , because they think they are to good to live in North Charleston , Summerville, Goose Creek and West Ashley
Below the belt i know , but the comment Darcy made about North Charleston was totally irresponsible

A proud Whitehall resident
