Default parking suggestions for visitors

I am visiting Charleston for two days. But I just realize I have to pay $22/day parking for the hotel I am staying. For people on a budget like me, it is simply not an option. My hotel is located around Queens ST & Meeting ST. Is there any way to get around the parking fee, any free or cheaper parking option? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Some of the lots do $8/day and some are by the hour, most of the hotels are valet parking...

Thank you. Do you remember any places with $8/day parking?

I have never been to Charleston. I am afraid I might drive around for hours without finding a good parking spot.

The lots that are in that price range is for daily parking, not overnight. The lot I park in is 7.00 during the day and additional 12.00 for overnight.

Are you staying at the Mills House or the Elliot House?

You can park on the street overnight by the Mills House or the Elliot House on Queen. Just be sure you move in the morning by the time listed on the signs. You can also park in the lot opposite St. Phillips Church on the corner of Church and Cumberland.

Your hotel should have some good recommendations. I would go with their advice as they deal with this question daily.

Thank you, fisherman. I am staying in the Mills House. I bid online and I did not know that I am getting such a supreme hotel without free parking, free internet or free breakfast.
