I am looking for information/opinions on the area's hospital organizations as far as stability, what they are like to work for, and whether just in general you would rather work downtown or in the N. Charleston area if you lived in the Park West area. I know that Roper will have a hospital in Mt. Pleasant but I do not see anything opening up there as most people working at other locations will have first dibs on those jobs so I am taking more about downtown and like Trident or Monks Corner as possibilities. A while back I had read on this forum that MUSC was laying off and having financial problems but I see alot of jobs now on their website. Any comments are greatly apprecieated.

My wife just finished the whole process of finding a nursing job in the area. MUSC had a ton of job openings and she interviewed in several departments there before accepting a position there.

East Cooper in Mt Pleasant offered her a job, but as a per diem nurse.

From what my wife told me, her interviews with Trident were not very pleasant. She was put off by the attitude of the people interviewing her. Of the 3, Tridents pay scale was by far the lowest, with MUSC being the highest. East Coopers was not far behind MUSC.

She did not receive one interview request from Roper, from what she told me, there were very few openings ever even posted.

Thank you for your response, funny I just heard some not so nice things about Trident today also. I have heard some things in the past about MUSC having to lay people off since it is a government run hospital but boy they sure have a lot of job openings recently. I was also told that it takes 20 minutes from the garage to get to MUSC. Is that true for your wife? Thank you so much for your response.

When my fiance interviewed at Trident the interviewer did nearly everything she could to talk her out of the job...or so it seemed. We live in MtP and the interviewer kept asking, "why do you want to drive this far to work?"...as well as other questions along those lines.

And the fact that Roper & St. Francis post jobs, but don't really have those jobs available is true. They have to post the job openings, but tend to have them filled before they are already posted.
