If you're interested in sending your kids to private schools, living West Ashley would be most feasible. Some of the public schools are good as well, but this side of Charleston is very convenient to many of the private schools in the area. Also, the newer subdivisions in the more western side of the area might be able to provide you with a very nice home and the acreage you're looking for. I am a bit biased, though, since I grew up there.

I'd like to put my 2 cents in regarding Christian schools in the area. My three children all attended Northside Christian School which goes from K4 to 12th grade, has an excellent sports and music program and the best academics and great instructors. Good Luck on your move to the Charleston area - I know you will love it here!

Sounds like you've had Summerville recommended to you by several people! Let me 2nd, 3rd, or 4th the motion! My family moved here 5 yrs ago from the Washington DC/Baltimore area...and WE LOVE IT ! Though it has grown faster than we wish, it still maintains a smaller town feel with lots of family activities, lots of things to do, good shopping, good schools ( at least the ones my kids have been to are and my husband works in one) I have 6 children myself (the youngest is already 16!) and 3 little grandsons. Two of our grown children have moved their families here since we came down.
