According to the Gazette-Mail, CURA has approved proposals for both the Holley Hotel site and the old B&B Loans building on Summers Street. If the sale goes through, B&B Loans would have retail space on the ground floor and offices above.
There are no specifics for the Holley Hotel in the article, but the winning proposal was submitted by Mountain Shore Properties from South Carolina. A quick Google search turns up that they do a bit of everything -- some hotel, some office, and some mixed-use, so it's hard to tell at the moment what they plan to do. The process of selling the Holley site isn't as far along yet as B&B, partly to clean up the fact that a piece of the Ott parcel is owned by 9 separate heirs at the moment.
Mountain Shore Properties is owned by Charlie Wendell, the guy who developed the new Courtyard by Marriott between Virginia and the Boulevard. He was the only other bidder originally, and was favored by Mayor Jones as his proposal included mixed uses. When the hotel deal fell through, he again submitted his proposal and was successful (so far) this time.
I am more excited about the Summers St. Project because I have been eying that empty corner for too long. I honestly think that the holly site will unfortunately be another hotel, as this MT Shore group seems to be more into hotels than anything.
Still no movement or word on the new Bojangles. Also haven't heard of any reported new Dunkins or Sheetz locations being considered. Last I heard, Little General wanted to open a store with DD in 2016 (which of course is this year). My guess is that they'd have to announce something soon if they wanted to have a store operational by December.
Sheetz has yet to announce any new stores in the KV. They must be really struggling to find land because they are expanding stores at an astronomical rate around their current footprint. I have heard on several occasions that their South Charleston is impressively successful, so you'd think that they would be eager to build a new one or two or five soon!
Also noticed work on the new Ronald McDonald House is coming along. they have a tall carne assisting their efforts now.
Well I have been saying for years now that this would be a great place for a Sheetz!
