I was looking up information about grocery stores around the US, and I stumbled across this article that talks about the Capitol Market.
https://www.engage3.com/2019/05/amer...-supermarkets/ It's from 2019, and they considered the CM one of the most unique "grocery stores" in the US. I guess I never looked at the CM as a single entity like that before, but then it hit me that it basically is a grocery store subdivided into different vendors. They have the Purple Onion with groceries, a meat vendor, fish vendor, wine and cheese vendor, and other services like coffee, candy, WV goods, etc...
I started thinking about how underappreciated the Market is, and what it means to the city. It truly is a gem! It deserves more praise than its given.
I'd love to see the Capital Street corridor built out more with new residences, and anchored by a strong Capitol Market at the end. I think the potential is there. It's a shame that the Edge project fell through. That would have been a nice edition to the general vicinity of the Market.
Just some thoughts
