Thanks, I was curious about that. I hope that they do a good job on this because I would hate to see another bland CAMC building going up.

University of Charleston posted this update video for the Russell & Martha Wehrle Innovation Center:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QhST9vwrmQ

They have a nice final 3D computer rendering at the end of the video if your attention span doesn't last the entire 5 minutes.

Thanks for posting that.

It will be a addition to the community and obviously the school.

There is a lot of construction going in in Charleston right now, and the city is benefiting from the investment by both public and private groups into their businesses l. CAMC, Pioneer FCU, the civic center, UC, the State, etc... All have multi-million dollar construction projects going on within the city.

Construction is coming along on several of the large projects in Charleston. I was a the Civic Center yesterday evening, as the glass installation at the new entrance (across from the CTC) looks fantastic. When this project is complete, there will not be a facility in the state that will be as nice IMO.

I will try to take some pictures next time I'm over there.

Pretty much the entire facility will be changed in some way or another. The lobby will be completely remodeled with another new glass entrance, The convention space will be completely redone and expanded, and there will be a ballroom built on the riverfront with added culinary spaces. The coliseum will not receive any improvements in this plan, but there is speculation that it will receive an over haul eventually.

any update on whether the city and Hyatt officials have convinced the Beni Kedem people to relocate in order to erect a convention center hotel?

Not to my knowledge, but Fifth Quarter has been fensed off and it appears that a demolition company has been selected. I would imagine that it could come down anytime now.
