Charleston Gazette-Mail | Ammunition factory planned for Eastern Kanawha

This would be great considering the loss of coal jobs in that part of the county. These jobs would be well paying and would add another engine to the economy in our region.

I heard about this a couple of weeks ago. That rumor was spot on except it predicted a higher number of jobs. Glad to see some ray of economic light in the UKV!

This is great news, I hope more companies like this keep coming to the state.

Purely speculation on my part, but ammunition sales are through the roof over the last 8 years and while there has to be some sort of ceiling, I can't see one yet. This plant may be like others undergoing this sort of demand boom and have a phase 2 already laid out before the building goes operational. It may very well end up being much more than 400 full time jobs.

The average salary of an ammunition is about $16.00 per hour. that would imply a payroll of $256,000 per week into the economy of the UKV. A million dollars a month is a big deal for those UKV communities that has lost so very much of late.
