Listening to some of these people it becomes very clear why WV cannot grow, develop and succeed. Does she even think about the fact that there's a 4K student university in the same area and several public schools as well? They hate change and honestly I think they are afraid of things that can be successful. There's a weird mentality in parts of WV that are really hard to comprehend.
And in that area where youth struggle and drugs are rampant it's really depressing to see this stance.
Final Approval has been given to transform Shawnee Park into a multi-sports complex. Again, I cannot emphasis enough how much this will help our area in many different ways. Economically, socially, physically, etc...
I wonder if this will ultimately ruin plans for more fields at Coonskin park that would have come along with an expanded runway at Yeager?
I really do not think so, the two areas feed on different populations and I do not think they cross over much in their non-work lives. Besides the Coonskin development is ten years in the future at a minimum. The airport will have to go through several rounds of clearance at the state, federal and agency levels before it gets the final approval. Then will follow the design phase and the county may start on their leg of the development at that time but I doubt before that. They can say, they 'want' to do this or that but that is little more then talk at this point. I would even say there is a good bet, nothing at the airport happens and thus nothing happens at Coonskins.
It makes you wonder crazy thoughts like who has kids at BrickStreet that play soccer or what else could be connected there. Glad they donated but it does make for some interesting what if’s.
Work has steadily progressed on the sports complex. From 64 you can get a pretty good view of the construction that has taken place. Lots of dirt now, but when completed it will be beneficial to our community and more importantly our kids!
