Does this kill the aquatic center or is South Charleston taking over that venture?

No this would be basically field based team sports. It would be a major development for the area to have both come to fruition. And the sooner the better but they'll both be fought against unfortunately.

It will be interesting to see if both this proposal as well as the proposal at Coonskin will both come to fruition. The Coonskin one seems more likely because the airport has a lot of power and will push hard for their runway expansion project. Also, the Shawnee Park plan will receive a fight from the golfers, as the number of courses around the Valley is shrinking not increasing. If the Golf course goes though, there would be a large chuck of land to play with for sports fields as well as possibly other development.

This would definitely be a good start towards doing some projects that would bring visitors in here. Of course this is phase one. They are looking at trying to attract a Great Wolf Lodge or something similar to go along with it. Now if we can get some things going for adults both young and old.

I enjoyed the plant explosion comment. It makes no sense but it was entertaining. Does this lady feel the same way for all the homes in that area? Does she want those people relocated?

This plan is a great idea and a great thing for Dunbar. I hope the Commission supports it.

Listening to some of these people it becomes very clear why WV cannot grow, develop and succeed. Does she even think about the fact that there's a 4K student university in the same area and several public schools as well? They hate change and honestly I think they are afraid of things that can be successful. There's a weird mentality in parts of WV that are really hard to comprehend.

And in that area where youth struggle and drugs are rampant it's really depressing to see this stance.

I agree with both the comments above. It is people like that, who hold the state back. This sports complex will be a great asset to the county. We already have a demonstrated need of more soccer fields in the valley. The more youth sports grows in the area, the better off our society will be. There has been plenty of research that suggests that youth that involve themselves in sports (or any extra-curricular activity for that matter) will be more likely to succeed as adults in education, training, obtaining jobs, and obtaining from unhealthy lifestyles.

This will be a major benefit for the city of Dunbar and Cross Lanes.
