At one time they were pretty decent and made having a state job tolerable because you could take a 5k paycut but come out the same depending on what you did. Not so good now it appears.

Back when I worked for the state I was fortunate with what I do to have had a decent rate of pay. However, the one thing that I noticed that really bothered me was how many folks were being paid a lot of money and did nothing and conversely how many folks were paid very little and did nothing. It seemed the bulk of the work and the folks holding it all together were all in the middle getting crushed from both sides of do nothings.
