Default Bathroom-tissue maker to open factory near Shelby

Clearwater Paper, which makes bathroom tissue and paper towels, plans to build a distribution center and factory near Shelby that would employ about 250 within five years. The Spokane, Wash.-based company could received about $4 million in state incentives.

This is very good, Sunny. They sure need this in Shelby.

There's an Aldi there too.

Uptown Shelby is very nice. There's a small shop on Lafayette that sells hoagies. It's about as good as you'll get outside of Philadelphia & South Jersey.

Finally a nice comment about Shelby. I knew you were capable even though you're from the Philly area...

That comment is not necessary.

Uptown Shelby is much nicer than downtown Gastonia. The overall shopping is much better in Gastonia.

I'm glad that Shelby got the paper plant. The jobs are sorely needed. Nearly 2,000 job seekers apply with Clearwater Paper | job, paper, seekers - Local News - The Star Online : The Newspaper of Cleveland County (http://www.shelbystar.com/news/job-51011-paper-seekers.html - broken link)

The county needs a lot more facilities like that, but right now, the focus is on putting data centers & high tech businesses in Kings Mountain, because, face it, Kings Mountain has I 85 & 74, so is a much more flexible location. Those businesses aren't going to provide a lot of jobs but will provide the taxes to use to draw in more businesses. In the weekly paper, it was announced that city council in Kings Mountain rezoned a second plot of land for data center/high tech use.

They must sell that "John Wayne" industrial toilet paper. Good on them for picking this area.

A - I'm female.

B - Have you said anything nice about Kings Mountain? I try to give honest opinions in these threads. There's good & bad about everywhere.

As to the topic of the thread, I saw, recently, that the distribution center is coming along nicely.
