I am transferring to UNC Charlotte in 10 days. I am looking for a church near UNCC. My requirements are -
(1) Must be "evangelical" (i.e. NOT traditional, highly liturgical denominations like Lutheran or Episcopalian) and have a solid foundation in the Bible.
(2) Not too small (must have at least 100 regular attendees on Sunday during the semester).
(3) Must be mostly Caucasian, but have some non-caucasian members and is respectful of cultural/racial diversity.

(4) Having a singles' ministry is a plus.
To each his own, and I completely understand the need to feel comfortable in one's place of worship, BUT
What's up with number 3??? Why on earth does that matter enough for one to make it a specific request?
I feel the same way on #3. Christianity embraces all people, to choose a church based on race is totally against HIS teachings. Choose a church that encomapasses the teachings and one you feel comfortable in, not race.
I think that #3 MIGHT be important because of a feeling of comfort. I don't think that is racist, I think it is realistic....
Take the Charlottearea Catholic Parishes, for instance...
No one thinks twice if a hispanic family chooses to drive across town to attend the largely hispanic Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church or an African American family drives to the historically black Our Lady of Consolation or if a white family that lives closer to either of those Parishes prefers to worship at Queen of the Apostle in Belmont, which is predom. whites.
IF the reason is simply a feeling the the worship style will be more suited to them and they will have more social outlets via the singles ministry, then I don't see a problem. If the reason is that they prefer not to worship at all with members of another race (which he did not say) then that is a WHOLE different can of worms!
Well just to make things clear, I am not being racist. I am from China. I just need a mostly caucasian church so I can practice English!
Please don't hesitate to check out C4 when it starts back up in the fall. I think that you will be very welcomed and comfortable. PLUS: it is right ON UNCC's campus!!
Also try Re-Entry which sponsors Entrepreneurial Leadership Forums on Universities. We have an event tomorrow at lunch at UNCC designed for International students.
