bs13690, The information is spot on. People are looking for a lower cost of living, community involvement, colleges, slower pace, a place to teach there children, and a place offering a political voice, amongst other things. North Carolina has great hospitals, mountains, biking, beaches, four seasons, good education (some areas need improvement), and will become the next technological, banking, farming, and state for companies to invest there profits. Plus, you can still get a home in the country cheaper than in California.

I think it''s cool that you can click on any county in the US. I found it really interesting to compare Mecklenburg and the surrounding counties.

I just hope people will vote in a such a way to maintain this magical 'lower cost of living', otherwise moving was a moot point.

Cradle to grave government is very costly and was certainly not the founder's intentions.
