Yes, you can find decent apartments in that price range for sure. But he wants a garage too, which will add between $60 and $75 to his rent.

It's houses you have to be careful of under $900 in Charlotte.

Haha, ok I apologize for being a bit off on my geography of the area. I still get lost everytime I'm there without the GPS

So, I mentioned Gastonia. Yes, its not Charlotte, but hey, thats fine! I'll be working at the Air Base @ the Airport so being on the west side of town is ok with me. I'd rather have quiet suburbs than busy city life (thats for the weekends )

Have you heard of the complex "The Park at Steel Creek"? Its located at 13301 Crescent Springs Drive, Charlotte, NC. Rent for a 2 bedroom is $650, they have garages for additional cost, its about halfway between the airport and my fiances parents in Fort Mill, and I know the Ballantyne area isn't too terribly far. They also offer a military discount. Their website is The Park at Steele Creek - Apartments in Charlotte

The quick responses have been great! -Ryan

Gastonia would actually be a good choice for you considering your job at the airport

Those apartments are not in a bad area, but they are older (maybe 20 years old?). Proximity to the parents in Fort Mill would be great however

Proximity to in-laws!

I called the folks at the Park at Steel Creek, seemed friendly.

$750 a month, garage is $75 a month, off application and administration fee, 1st floor apartment (also have 2nd/3rd), Neils (representative), $300 dog deposit, deposit is dependent on credit check, building built in 1998, 10 minutes from airport, Atlantic model 2 bed/2 bath, 1051 sq ft, etc. Definitely keep it in mind.

I'll keep an eye out for a place in the Gastonia area and post if I come across anything that looks worthwhile.
