"Downtown Indian Trail"

Can anyone tell me where exactly downtown Indian Trail is? We're moving to Indian Trail next week but I don't think I've seen "downtown" yet.
Thanks!

Funny you should ask...I have been a resident of IT for 2 years and had to learn that "DownTown" is the area on Indian Trail Road from roughly Ace Hardware to a little past the current Town Hall...the reason I say funny is because there is currently a "DownTown Project" in the works (has been for 2 years) and is currently stalled due to beliefs of a few Town Council Members. That project would be on almost 50 acres of cleared land across from the current Town Hall and comprise some 600 residential units, New Town Hall, Restaurant and Retail with small Town charm, Farmers Market, Reflecting Pond, and more. Live to work style units above storefronts, etc and some really neat things to revitalize that area of IT. If you drive down Indian Trail Rd. now you would probably not be impressed as it looks a little shabby and depressed and needs the update and new business. There is an anti growth sentiment from some members of the Council impeding it; some of us have formed a group to stop the nonsense and get this project back on track. Just last week a Bio Tech firm pulled out of the project because they could wait not longer for it to start and we lost 100 high paying jobs (50K and above) and a multi million dollar business from establishing right there in that spot. We also want a referendum on what they call "Liquor by the drink"; basically a vote on whether to allow restaurants to serve alcohol. Right now IT is a dry Town with no alcohol served. We just want the residents to be able to vote on this and not have it decided by the Council for us. Our group is called Indian Trail Citizens for Progress or ITCFP for short - been in the local news a lot lately including today in the Cahrlotte observer Union County section. Check us out at Indian Trail Citizens for Progress, Indian Trail, NC
As for the parade:
I have been to the Parade 2 years in a row and its good family fun - pretty much anyone can be in it. We will this year if you go you'll see ITCFP. Indian Trail is a nice town that I think you will like. Nice Xmas parades and school functions too. Great family town, just could use some help to grow properly with quality businesses. I am a resident of Brandon Oaks Subdivision. If you have'nt lived here long check out EB's BBQ right off Indian Trail Road behind Bruesters Ice Cream - real good.
-Hope this helps, Gary.

Has anyone gone to the 4th of July celebration in Faith NC? We've heard about it, and thought about trying it this year.

I believe you can be shuttled down from the Carolina Place Mall, which would probably help with wait time/parking situation.

Well, we live just down the street in Tega Cay. With all the people trying to get out at the same time, I think the shuttles got stuck as well afterward.

No, they are given access to leave before everyone else via the middle lane. I might be able to see all of the fireworks from my new house
Last year's show was awesome, but the best I ever saw was in Grand Island (where I used to live near Buffalo/Niagara Falls). They do fireworks from the river and every one goes to the side of the river that Buffalo is on to watch them. If you have family in or live in Grand Island, you can watch from the outside of the Holiday Inn on Grand Island (my brother works there and I used to also). That was the most amazing show I have ever seen and it was about 45 minutes long. But the onne the Knights do is a close 2nd.

In the past we have attended fireworks at Carowinds, you would need to check on this. It took two hours to get out of the Carowinds parking lot after the show. We have attended fireworks uptown, Charlotte. Another traffic mess. There will be lots of traffic, so go early; but the best family type entertainment we have attended is the biggest little town parade in Waxhaw, North Carolina. Take NC Highway 16 South until it ends. The whole scene looks like Norman Rockwell Americana. For details call Waxhaw City Hall 704-843-2195. I called and the parade starts at 10 A. M. and the fireworks are at 9:30 P. M. I suggest Cane Creek Park for the in-between times. Check the Union County website for the Cane Creek Park information.

Fort Mill has a fireworks show downtown too (away from Carowinds traffic). The Knights offer free shuttles from Carolina Place mall that get priority when leaving the stadium if you want to go to the baseball game.

If you go to the Knight's game, look for me. I'll be running around in a blue Knights shirt working my butt off as a concession mgr, lol!!Seriously, it is a great fireworks show & lots of fun. Every concession stand will be open & then some for the game. Now that they've opened up the road for the 2nd exit from the parking lots, it shouldn't be as bad as last year to get out of there.
