Thanks for all the responses. I kinda think that if most of our top soil hadn't been taken away we'd be better off. Am going to meet with a pro on Tuesday to discuss.
Oh how I do not miss the 'brown' summers down there. Yesterday was the first day in about a week that we had rain. Even without the rain and the heat we had, my yard was still lush and green with a few dandelions here and there.
its a double edged sword...benefits/negatives to any type of lawn...
I like fescue the best, but like many have said if you get the heat and no rain from thunderstorms in the summer, you have to water more to avoid having "crunchy" grass...this summer up to mid-june everyones lawn was green, however w/the hot temps and lack of rain many turned brown....
bermuda is less maintenance but it looks terrible in the winter....I don't like the look for many months....
if you are speaking about a irrigation system, be prepared to pay for the $900 for the permit in Union county. You'll have a separate meter that doesn't have sewer fees.
We joke about not stepping on the lawn, you may crack it!!

Wouldn't it just be cheaper to get a well?
