Borrowed the idea from Raleigh Forum, where I live (near) now. I grew up in Charlotte, and thought this might be fun.
You know you are an old-school Charlottean if....
You remember when Eastland Mall was the nice mall in town
you remember when you had to make a few turns to get through Matthews and/or Pineville (pre-bypass)
You remember when the NCNB Building was the tallest building in downtown (and NCNB was a bank)
you remember all you can eat catfish night at "the FishFarm"
you were at the grand-opening of Discovery Place (I was there with my 5th or 6th grade class!!!)

You've been to large celebrations that featured the Spongetones as the headline band.
You remember the old Douglas Airport, and/or impressed with the ease of accessing the new one with the opening of the Billy Graham Parkway
And my favorite:
You also hated shopping, so you killed time at Southpark watching the "giant" TV while your older sister shopped at the Record Bar and you ate a Chick Filet!!!
Let's hear your old memories. (I lived in Charlotte from 77-86, and then 95-96. My family is still there, parents are still in the house I grew up in, and I come home often.)
You know you are from Charlotte if:
-- you never have anyone to go down memory lane with (because all of your neighbors and friends seem to be from upstate New York!).
--you remember when only the REALLY rich went to private schools because folks were happy with CMS.
You know you are old-school Charlotte if:
- you know where Blue Heaven was
- you think The Metropolitan will always be the old dairy farm where they put the mall
- you remember seeing concerts at the (old, OLD) Charlotte Coliseum and thinking to yourself "this place is huge"!
- you remember Hannah-Barbera land, Carolina Lightnin' and the Oaken Bucket
- you realized that the true beauty of Mcadenville would never be usurped by those scoundrels at PTA
- you own a seersucker suit. and wore it last week.
- you don't speak with a NY accent!
You remember Fred Kirby and Joey the Clown
The big night out after Prom was at the Open Kitchen
The Pineville Dinner Theatre was "all that" and headlined actors such Jessica Lange
Carmel Country Club was, indeed, out in the country
The weatherman you grew up with was Clyde "Cloudy" McLean
Your first recipe was copied off the Betty Feezor show
You remember when there was no McGuire Nuclear Plant on Lake Norman
You remember the Purple Penguin
You know who Arthur Smith is
You used to go downtown to see the Christmas windows at Belk's and Ivey's.
You still call it DOWNTOWN.
You remember the UNCC area as cowfields and 2-lane roads - with Herlocker Burger being the big draw!
You looked forward all year to the County Fair at the Mecklenburg Fairgrounds.
You shopped at the KMart on North Tryon - or Woolco in Tryon Mall.
Connie Cottontop came to see you in elementary school - and she was like an angel!
