I did a search and was surprised that no one posted about Trader Joe's grand opening today. I went with the family about 11a and it was unbelievable the amount of people that were there. It was packed wall to wall with people and the lines were all like 30 people deep. If a fire marshall would have checked that place out, they would have shut it down. We ended up just walking around and remembering all the different stuff we use to get at TJ's before we moved here 2 years ago. That parking lot was a mess. Hopefully it get's better after all the hype calms down.

I read that folks were camped out at the store hours before the grand opening like trying to get tickets to a rock concert. Unbelievable.

My daughter works there - she said it was insane all day!! Think I'm going to wait a couple of days before I go!! And one of the customers complained about the lines and told her she was an efficiency expert and could give them some ideas on how to make everything more efficient!!! I just laughed - nothing can make that kind of pandemonium efficient!!

My wife and I stopped there today on our way home from dinner. The place was an absolute zoo with huge empty holes on the shelves and you literally couldn't walk down the aisle. We were laughing at the expressions on peoples faces and the way some people looked like they've never been to a grocery store before. We left..it wasn't worth waiting on line for moochi's and dark chocolate covered soy beans.

There is another Trader Joe's opening in University City later this year and another one is rumored to open in the Midtown project near downtown.

reminds me of the Krispy Kreme debut in Medford, MA about 4 years or so ago- the crowd was so thick they needed detailed officers on a Saturday morning to direct traffic in and out...

it was amazing as I'm sure this opening was....I think Ikea has a similar frenzy when they open a new location.

DH & I drove by Friday night on the way home from work, the parking lot was packed! I figured I would wait for a week or so before I stopped in. I am down to my last bag of cinnamon almonds from our CA trip in April. I have been using my Trader Joe's tote in excitment of the opening for the past few weeks, I can hardly wait to get all of my favorite goodies again!

I plan to not go for a month or so, my guess is that with the amount of folks going this weekend they will be depleated of a lot of stuff.

Just heard on the news they had to get the fire marshall to come because there were too many in the building!
