I might take a job in Albemarle, but I am in my 20's and I would like to still be close to my friends in Charlotte. Is there any area in between the two places that has a younger crowd? I do not want to live in the suburbs, I am trying to find an apartment.

Concord's probably your best bet for still having a somewhat reasonable commute. Still a suburb but there are some younger people around and isn't too far from Charlotte.

Yeah Concord or somewhere in East Charlotte near 485 are just about your only options. There's literally nothing but open, boring land between Charlotte and Albemarle. Your commute will still be quite long. Around 40 minutes each way minimum.
