We are visting the Lake Norman area the week of the 4th of July. We have had thoughts of relocating to the area, but haven't found the right job yet to make the move but we are staying at a place in Sherrills Ford and are looking for things to entertain our 4 children ages 12-3. Looking for places to eat that someone would recommend aswell. Also looking for input on Lake Norman and how busy it gets with boat traffic this week. We have a 16' open bow boat and I have spoke with the person renting us their house and she made it sound like it's so crazy with boat's that you won't have any fun and there is no way you can ski/tube. Also if it's not a great idea to have jet ski's.??? I would hate to bring them 8 hours and find out it's just unsafe to take kids on the lake.

Thanks for any info you might have for me.

It is a busy lake and probably will be the actual day of fourth of july. I have been out during the week and thought it was rather quiet for a hot summer day. It is also a large lake bring your watercraft and have some fun also there another lake within 5 to 10 minutes Mountain Island Lake I was out on it yesterday a Sunday and often it would be 15 minutes before I saw any watercraft.

Just so that you have a good safe trip here are some regulations pertaining to this state

LKN is a busy lake... but Sherrill's Ford is a quieter area than many/most. Of course you can tube your kids--there are SO MANY coves! Just stay out of the main channel--it gets far too choppy for kids on tubes! At exit 36, there's a mini-golf/batting cage/laser tag place. At exit 28, there's an indoor "bounce park" called Monkey Joe's. The best outdoor park for picnic/biking etc. is Jetton Park. It's on the lake and is 2-1/2 miles around the park loop. Tennis courts, playground, bike rental etc.

4th on Wed will be far calmer than many weekends on the lake. email me if you have specific questions. I live on the lake with a 7-year old.
