Hi
Can anyone give some information or input on Gaston/Cabarrus/Mecklenburg counties? We're in the process of relocating to the Charlotte Metro area and have zoned in on the following because we're told that commutes from these areas are OK:
Gastonia/Dallas & Mountain Island area of Gaston
Concord & Kannapolis area of Cabarrus
Cornelius/Huntersville Upper North Mecklenburg
We have a 12 yr in middle school so thats a BIG issue, How are the schools we've had completly different options on this issue. No one we've talked with has anything nice to say about Mecklenburg schools why?
We already know housing cost-taxes-etc. But what about Family towns and not in the city (raised 20min from NYC need the calming effects of a slower paced life)

We've read alot online but, what you read is not always the full truth so any input would really help.

Thanks

Default Belmont

Have you heard of Belmont?
Great town right on the Catawba River and Lake Wylie.
Charming small town feel, cute down town.
Close to I85 and Hwy 74, 20 minute commute to Charlotte.

Default Also need help...

My family may be relocating from Atlanta to Charlotte. We have to school aged boys (7 and 5) and the schools are very important to us. It looks like several Mecklenburg high schools score really well (Providence, David W Butler, N. Mecklenburg) on state tests, PSAT, SAT, and rank very high on the Newsweek ranking system. The Cabarrus County high schools score well below those I mentioned and do not even appear on the top 1400 high schools.
Am I missing something? You all seem to think Cabarrus County is the better choice...why?
We would also want a 4 bedroom home in the $250-275,000 price range.
Help!
