If they're all the same, how did Mooresville become your favorite?
I can relate to having a favorite DMV. Some just seem to have more personable employees and officers. Others feel like an assembly line, where no one really seems to care. I had one officer groan at me when I told her good morning.
To the OP, a road test is a road test. You might get a slack officer, but You might get a nit-picker. Its luck of the draw and I certainly hope you're not asking for this advice because your driving skills suck. We need more bad drivers like an eskimo needs ice cream sandwiches.
Hmmm, sorry to hear that. Like everyone else said, a simpler test, and your request for one says one of two things A) you dont have enough experience to drive safely or B) Your a nervous driver which can translate into poor driving skills and endangerment when second guessing a move on the road. You may have your license, but please continue to practice on smaller, less traveled roads until you are confident you could take any test.

I have to strongly agree with this. A driver out there taking the "easy" route on something like this is not a prospect that gives me a good feeling. It's not just our own lives in our hands behind the wheel, but those of other people's families.
why were some of you not required to take the road test? i'm just curious...i'm taking mine soon in Gastonia since that is nearest to where i live at the moment, & i'm not sure i like the idea of not actually being tested on-road. & do they have you do the test with the cones or parallel parking at all?

In the NC manual it states that if you are changing from another state's license to a NC license, the road test may be waived, at the discretion of the officer. I had held a NJ license since 1968. I aced the written test. The officer, in Gastonia, said that because of the length of time that I had been driving & the fact that I aced the test, she was waiving the road test. Considering that I had driven in Philadelphia & its metro for years, I think that I've proven my driving ability. If you don't like that, that's entirely your problem.

i never said i had a problem with you not having to take the road test because i didn't know the reason. that is why i asked you. i meant i would have a problem with not getting a road test myself because i have never had a license before. it is rude to just jump down people's throats.

That is not the way you worded it. The way that you worded your question was rude, in my opinion. I simply stated that if you didn't like that I was not required to take the road test that that was your problem, because you made a statement that appeared to state that you had a problem with other people not being required to take the road test. Read what you wrote. If you read the manual, it clearly states that people who are changing over to NC might not be required to take the road test. I also wrote further about what went on at the office, & why I was not required to take the test, yet you dmed me wanting a reason.
