I have searched the threads and it appears there are a lot of technical issues with Time Warner- is this still the case? I have had FIOS for about 4yrs and can only think of *once* when the server had issues. What kind of issues have others experienced with AT&T- it seems that installation casues a major headache...

Ani really needs to chime in here. As far as I know she's still having major problems with U-Verse.

We've had TW for eight years. The only problem I have is that my internet goes out every single time the phone rings. Other than that, we've been happy with it.

The last time that I heard frm her, that's what she said. Major problems getting online when that's essential for her business is not good. She probably should be the poster child for not getting U-Verse.

In my opinion, U-Verse is a half-cocked scheme to do a cheap version of FiOS. I'm saying that because, as a broadcast tech, I was dealing with a fiber-optic test that Verizon was trying in the early 90s. All fiber-optic is near flawless. Part fiber-optic adds a lot of variables & I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole. You might get lucky, but if not. . .

That said, I currently have Time Warner. The 1st year it was flawless. Like magic, when that year was up, it's been constant problems. Much as I hate AT&T, I am giving serious thought to dropping Time Warner completely & just getting DSL from AT&T. I would prefer WindStream, but they tell me that the FCC prevents them from coming into an AT&T area.

That seems really strange. Has TWC made any attempt to fix it?

I have DSL from AT&T - very few problems (as compared to many of my friends with TW).

The only thing I really hate about TWC is that when the internet service goes down you have no way of knowing when its going to come back on.

Sorry to hear that. Maybe DSL would work better for you?
