Bloomberg has just disclosed that Bank of America is following similar actions from RBS disclosed earlier, and is firing as many as 400 employees in global banking and markets division. Charlie Gasparino, who first broke the news, also added the twist that the departures are taking place now "so as to deprive the unlucky employees year-end bonuses."
I wasn't able to determine if any of the 400 are in Charlotte... The "many more" cannot be good news for some folks.
I haven't heard of any layoffs on my project/department. But maybe I'm in a bubble, since we are involved in a multi year release that is going on till 2013. They are planning on hiring 3 contractors and offering them full time...

I hope the ones that are getting fired are the ones that consistently give out wrong information to the customers. OR the ones that train them.

The Observer article said that this division is based in NYC, but has employees in Charlotte. So I would imagine that NYC would get the brunt of the cuts.
