Default Bridgehaptom North Carolina side and South Carolina Side Help ????

I drove around this beautiful Jon Weiland Community yesterday afternoon and I noticed based on the for sale brochures, the community sits in two states. being from South Florida, this is a very unique thing. What are th benefits or disadvantages about buying a house there whether in SC and NC. It seems as if the Club houses might be sitting in two states. I could swim in two states. LOL!

If you buy in the SC side, I would thing the kids will be zoned for SC schools. Property taxes, auto tags, licensing, etc is also SC? BUt what if you work in NC, do you pay income taxes in both states?

Anyone live there or know about this community. My wife says "stay away" and buy in another community just in case anyone decides to change everything..

Yes Bridgehampton is a lovely community. Some of it is in SC and some is in NC. You are correct -- the SC side would be assigned to SC schools and all SC laws. Regarding income tax, there is a thread on this board relating to taxes if you live in SC and work in NC.

IMO John Wieland is a very good builder. Last year, elementary was Hawk Ridge (this coming school year it will be Elon Park, but housed at the new Flat Branch elementary which is being used as a swing school until Elon Park is completed), middle is Community House and Ardrey Kell High. For comparative school information, check NC School Report Cards

On the SC side, schools currently assigned are Indian Land schools (Lancaster County) For school info, check School Report Cards - South Carolina Department of Education

Not sure about your wife means by anyone deciding to change anything, but this community has been this way since it was built. But you will certainly have many options at that price point. Best of luck to you

I love Bridgehampton!!!!! I even have a home picked out when I sell my home in Pa. The NC side seems to be a tad more upscale with full brick, etc. I also thought the NC side had some larger homes. But I loved the club house and pool along with the tennis courts.
