The new Target in Gastonia is not going to be a Super Target. Target wanted an incentive to build a new building at Cox & Franklin & the city gave it to them, thinking that it was going to be a Super Target. Oops, it's not. This is front page news in the Gaston Gazette today.
According to the article, the developer knew all along that it wouldn't be a Super Target but never corrected the officials until now, after they have committed to provide the requested incentive.
Oh, yeah, & that will leave the old Target empty, in need of a tenant.
It does say that Ingles had been contacted to go into the complex. I wonder if this means that Ingles will be going into Belmont, since the rumor has been East Gastonia or Belmont.
