Happen to take some relatives who were visiting to NC Music Factory for drinks at Wet Willies and ran across the Gay Pride event. We had fun and enjoyed the event, no matter what our preferences were. What I found puzzling was today, that the Charlotte Observer did not make any mention of this event. We came upon the last hour of the event and I welcomed differences, especially with a daughter who considers herself bi. People are just people--spread the love!

In the last weeks, we have lost 5 teens (young adults) to suicide. I loved seeing the young ones embraced by the older adults who went through every anxiety they are experiencing. Just was wondering why our paper did not make a mere mention of the event....Not looking for negatives comments, keep them to yourself.

I only moved here a few months ago but so far I haven't been impressed by the reporting done by the newspapers or the TV news, regardless of topic. The Charlotte Observer seems to focus so much on certain issues that all others are secondary and often are under-reported. I am used to the New York Times and Washington Post so maybe my expectations are too high. Keep in mind though, newspapers generally look to report the negative and not positive. Bad news sells, so unless violence or protests break out, events don't generally get reported in newspapers. I do vaguely recall something on one of the TV news stations about the Gay Pride event, so it least it did get some recognition.

I do agree with you - people are people.

That was on Thursday, I was looking forward to seeing it in the Sunday paper, since the event was on Saturday.

Well at least those mean spirited folks that showed up downtown with their signs earlier didn't come back to wreck the event.

No, just a paragraph or two with positive details and some photos. Coming from New York, this event would have made the newspaper with photos highlighting the event.

Ummmmm....in case you haven't noticed, people here tend to be a little more conservative than they are in NY. Im not really sure I see the relevence of this event, or its higher significance than any of the dozens of festivals we have here.
