I'm looking for a restaurant in CLT with similar concept to Mongolian BBQ and thought their may be some northern transplants that have found one. Fun place to go to. www.gomongo.com

Hibachi Buffet and Buffet Dynasty in Matthews both have them. At least they did last time I was there.

I guess you don't remember the name of the joint, either?

I think it was BD's Mongolian BBQ. It's not there anymore. But it WAS yummy!!! They also used to have one down in Matthews. Again, it's gone too.

Mongolian BBQ is not Chinese or hibachi style restaurant. It is probably kind of hard to explain unless you have been to one. Basically you create your own "feast" from a variety of choice meats and seafood, fresh veggies & spices, sauces, cooked before you (Mongolian-style) on a large, flat grill. Very fun atmosphere. Sounds like there is not this type of spot around here .

Yes, and both of the restaurants listed above have areas for exactly what you described. They are certainly much smaller and less well stocked than a restaurant whose entire focus is Mongolian BBQ, but they exist. I've eaten at both, and at numerous MBBQ places around the country.
