Anybody know when the massive plane is supposed to return, or how I can find out? It was reported earlier in the year when it was here delivering the turbines to Siemens that it would be back in October. Thanks in advance.

I saw it when it took off, but I'd like to see it in daylight.

Call Siemens or the airport? When I called about it the last time it was here, the first person I spoke to knew all about it. It's obviously popular so maybe the word about it's return has been passed along.

Yeah, I want to take my new camera out for this round. I didn't go see it when it was here last time, but heard it was crowded at the airport overlook. There are a couple different places you can set up for photographing the runways. I'll see if someone at the airport's general info line knows anything.

The overlook had thinned out a good bit by the time the plane was visible, because it was delayed several hours from it's initial ETD. Fortunately the wind shifted, and the plane started it's takeoff roll from the overlook end of the runway, rather than the far end as was originally intended.

Apparently, it's been here and gone already! Departed on Monday, 10/4.

Whoops! Thanks Stripes. I guess next time I will research it better. I really haven't thought about it until recently. Nice video of it taking off posted in the comments section of the CLT Blog.

The video of it taking off from CLT is very cool. It looks like it isn't moving fast enough to generate lift, like B-52's I've been near at takeoff.

I think I'll sign up for that website to get notified if it comes back.
