My wife and I have been renting in the Southpark area and would love to stay here. Unfortunetly, we cant seem to find any single family homes in our price range (under 300k). It seems there are a few areas off of Tyvoloa and Woodlawn that might work but they could be a little too transitional for our liking.

Any ideas?

What about Selwyn, Colony, or Park Road?

Nothing there for under $300 unless it needs serious work.

Have you used CarolinaHome.com ? Search Area 5 and 6. There are 100s of homes under 300k. Some may or not be close to Southpark.

You cannot get into Beverly Woods or Mountainbrook for under 300,000 - most are in the 400,000's there now.

Frank, it is not very likely you are going to find anything in your price range in South Park. I would suggest you go a bit further south down Carmel Road and look at Shadow Lake - that is the only place even close to South Park that I know of that still has homes under 300,000. Plus, that is a VERY nice section of town and you would be surrounded by very expensive homes - great for resale.

I did think of one other neighborhood on the periphery of South Park - Huntingtowne Farms off of Park Road. However, there is only one home listed there right now and it is at $319,000. If you can stretch that much this would be a good area. Here is a link to it:

Default This is my hometown

Hey Frank, If you have been here long, you must have learned that SouthPark
"ain't cheap"' Charlotte has too many immigrants (legal) and there is a clamor for real estate. Other immigrrants (otherwise) are snapping up less expensive real estate in good neighborhoods that you term "transitional".
Maybe your interests in some of those neighborhoods could help redifine
"transitional".

Yup. I agree. we are starting to look at the Madison Park area between Tyvola and Woodlawn. Not quite Southpark but very close to all the shops and restaurants that we love.
