I had no idea about the Statesville Balloon Festival until today. I also hadn't heard of the BBQ fest, so I started wondering about other festivals in the area we were missing.
Also another one this weekend was Blakeney Boo Bash - its not as big as the other ones names and this year was its 4th annual but it was a ton of fun - it had free food, rides, face painting, hand waxing, nail painting, colored sand art, pumpkin painting, cotton candy and popcorn, a train ride for the kids, a hip hop dance floor for the kids to dance..just a ton of stuff all for free. I was very impressed!!!
I was a regular attendee of the Lexington BBQ Festival for a good 10 years running. It's always nice to get my fix of that BBQ every now and then. I would've gone this year but I had a schedule conflict.
I've been to the NC Apple Festival a few times including this year. Not enough there to be a favorite.
I do miss the old NC Music Festival that used to be held uptown.
So far it's the Ren fest. I havent been to a ton of festivals though. The balloon fest was nice to see the balloon's but I didn't see a ton of other reasons to go. The food was way over priced. Worse then the Ren fest which I thought wasnt too expensive for a festival. I may next year just park, for free, in their parking lot and wait there for the Balloons to take off then leave. The Ren fest was fun because of all the different acts they have. Next year I'll be going at 10am so we can see more of the little shows that are put on. I would suggest leaving during the last jousting tournament if you want to beat the traffic. Thats what we did and there was absolutely no traffic.
OHH and also the Renaissance Festival! I haven't personally been to it but I've heard great things!!!
+1
My family and I visited the Renaissance Festival on the opening weekend and we had a BLAST! It was fun for all...babies, teens and adults. We will be going back before it ends next month.
